Why run Cape Town Marathon 2020?

Cape Town is home to abundant flora and fauna, one of the natural wonders of the world (Table Mountain), rich cultural diversity, significant historical buildings and sites, and of course the most wonderful people of Cape Town – the Capetonians!

The Cape Town Marathon is Africa’s only IAAF Gold Label Status Marathon and is endorsed by two of South Africa’s sporting greats, Elana Meyer and Francois Pienaar. The Marathon route is designed to take in Cape Town’s spectacular natural beauty and also enables runners to traverse the City’s rich historical sites.

When is the 2020 Cape Town Marathon?

Cape Town Marathon 2020 will be held slightly later than in previous years and will be on 18^th October 2020. This is spring-time in Cape Town so brings ideal running conditions. The Marathon starts and finishes outside the iconic Cape Town Stadium. It starts at 06h40 and has a 6.5-hour cut-off time.

In addition to the Marathon, there are also several other events hosted on the same weekend you can take part in. Here is the schedule:

Saturday 17^th October 2020

• 5km Peace Run
• 12km Peace Trail Run
• 22km Peace Trail Run

Sunday 18^th October 2020

• 42.2km Marathon
• 10k Peace Run

So if you’d like to be involved but are not marathon ready yet, there are plenty of different race options for you and all have a fantastic vibe.

When do entries open?

Entries open on 1^st February 2020. Africa Marathon is an Official Tour Operator for the Cape Town Marathon 2020, and we have guaranteed entries so you can book your place directly through us.
