Welcome to Tanzania
We doubt there is a more evocative name in the annual running calendar than the Kilimanjaro Marathon. Taking place under the watchful eye of the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free standing mountain in the world, the Kilimanjaro Marathon (42.2km), half marathon (21.1km) and fun run (5km).
Although its location might sound daunting, the Kilimanjaro Marathon is quite manageable, with the entire run being completed between altitudes of between 830m and 1150m above sea-level, on good tarred roads. As an accredited IAAF race, it has official time-keeping, marshaling and refreshment points at regular intervals. It also can be used as a qualifier for the Comrades Marathon in South Africa, another on our list of must-do Africa running events.
You can find out much more about the Kilimanjaro Marathon by following the link below. But before you do, we want you to consider making the most of your visit to Tanzania and enjoy the many other attractions we can make available to you. Pre- or post-marathon, the options are endless.
